1. Goldfields studio apartment, Beaconsfield – Gateway to Tamar Valley
Our Tasmania journey began in the historic town of Beaconsfield. This cozy Airbnb felt like a warm hug after a long travel day — homely, spacious, and full of character. The well-equipped kitchen and safe garden were perfect for families.
A lovely playground and the Beaconsfield Mine & Heritage Centre were just a short walk away. Nearby attractions like Seahorse World, Platypus House, Low Head Lighthouse, and Hillwood Berry Farm made this a fun and educational stop.
Great access to Tamar Valley wineries — perfect for a quick stop-in .

2. Badgers View Farmstay, Railton – Life on the Land
This peaceful farmstay surrounded by rolling green hills was a true standout - truly magical! The hosts struck the perfect balance between warm hospitality and privacy. The kids got hands-on feeding lambs, chickens, and cows — and even enjoyed a buggy ride at dusk to spot wallabies.
Feeding animals, gathering eggs, and bonding with the farm creatures — they still talk about “their chickens!”
Sunset by the outdoor fire, bird song with morning coffee, and peaceful paddocks made it one of the most relaxing stops. We absolutely loved this place! And hence it also features in our blog - 20 Amazing Things to Do in Tasmania with Kids – Part 2.

3. Zeehan Glamping – Camping with Comfort
Zeehan was our gateway to the wild West Coast — and our glamping setup here brought a real sense of adventure with none of the hassle. Canvas tents with real beds, warm electric blankets, a heater and reading lights brought comfort to the experience. The shared kitchen (with a fantastic coffee machine!) was a bonus.
Roasting marshmallows by the campfire and spotting wallabies and native birds made it feel like a real wilderness adventure.
We saw the Milky Way, watched shooting stars, and enjoyed unplugging without roughing it.

4. Beachside Taroona – Suburban Bliss by the Sea
Only 15 minutes from Hobart, this peaceful beachfront Airbnb was a perfect blend of comfort, nature, and family convenience. Ocean views, books for the kids, pantry staples, and a genuinely warm welcome from the hosts made it feel like home .
Rockpooling and beach walks right outside the door. Kingston playground and a Coles supermarket are just 11 minutes away.
Close to Salamanca Market, MONA, and Mount Wellington — and yes, a seal swam right past our house. Magical! The hosts are extremely welcoming , friendly and thoughful!

5. Heatherbell Cottage, Forcett – A Hidden Gem Near the Tasman Peninsula
This beautifully restored cottage was the perfect rural base for exploring Richmond and the Tasman Peninsula. The kids loved feeding the two friendly alpacas each morning, and we enjoyed the peaceful setting surrounded by birdsong.
Hand-feeding alpacas and spotting native birds first thing in the morning.
Just 10 minutes to Sorell for groceries and dining. Close to Port Arthur, Tessellated Pavement, and the charming town of Richmond — but tucked away from the tourist bustle. Great value for money!

6. The Bay Shanty , St Helens Airbnb – East Coast Coastal Adventures
Our final stop was a peaceful and well-equipped home in St Helens. It was light-filled, spacious, and stocked with thoughtful family-friendly extras like board games and toys for kids. We even got a chance to see the Southern Lights during our stay!
Running free on the white-sand beaches of The Gardens and watching dolphins at Binalong Bay.
Perfect location for day trips to the Bay of Fires, Pyengana Dairy, and coastal walks. Quiet, safe neighborhood with grocery stores and a great playground nearby.
