Set against the backdrop of mighty mountain and intercommunicating caves, the 800 year old castle was very cunningly constructed to survive seige and also to provide escape to its inhabitants if needed.Half fortress, half cave — the castle merges with the mountain, creating secret tunnels and hidden chambers kids will love exploring.

The audio guide is included in the ticket charge. One of the best audio guide that I have experienced – it is informative, precise and extremely entertaining. Gives a close peek into the lives of the people from that era.Easy to walk through and stroller-friendly areas.

Erasmus, the most famous owner of the castle, survived a long seige in the castle till he was betrayed by his own servant and killed by a cannon shot in his own lavatory.
